Hosting a network game


Click on the Host game button. Once all players have connected, click Start to begin the game.


Connecting to a network game

Click on the Connect to game radio button. Type the IP address or host name of the computer hosting the game. Once all players have connected, the host will launch the game by pressing the Start button.

Note: The host of the game is the host only for the purpose of determining which map and initial unit positions will be used. Once the game has started, network communication runs as peer-to-peer, so loss of the host as a player will not terminate the game.


Playing the game

Research point allocation

Each year, each player civilization earns research points. These research points can be allocated to one of six basic research types:

Basic research – Basic research drives fundamental advances in theoretical science

For example: Engineering, mathematics, chemistry


Civic research – Civic research is the research into technology which provides improvements to the civilizations infrastructure

For example: roads, hospitals, factories


Spiritual research – Spiritual research provides access to units and buildings which attempt to explain not the how of the universe, but the why.

For example: temples, Theocratic Governments, rituals


Offensive research – Offensive research is used to develop new units and devices for war.

For example: military academies, axemen, cannon


Engineering research – Engineering research is used to develop units and technologies for the advancement of practical technology of the civilization.

For example: stone walls, iron casting, nuclear acceleration, wormhole mechanics


Psych research – Psychological research provides buildings and units used to keep the citizens of the civilization content and productive.

For example: theatres, music, Monarchies



To adjust the amount allocated to each research type, click on the red arrow on the side of the Civilization Adjustment area.
Slide the slider of the research to be adjusted to the desired amount.
To lock the slider at that amount to prevent readjustment when adjusting a different slider, click on the Lock button to lock the slider in place. When the slider has been locked, the letters of the button will turn red. Once the slider has been locked, it cannot be adjusted either automatically or manually.
To unlock the slider, click the Lock button again. When a slider has been unlocked, the letters will turn white.



Moving units

Left-mouse click to select any unit.
Left click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse to select multiple units at one time.
Right-click on any empty space to move the unit to that location.

Stopping unit movement
Left-click on the unit in motion. Click on the icon to stop the unit.

Attacking units and buildings
When unit has been selected, right-click on another unit to attack. Units may only attack units and buildings from an opposing civilization.

Gathering wood
When a worker has been selected, right-click on a tree to gather wood. When a unit has gathered its maximum carrying capacity of wood, the unit will drop the wood off at the townhall, then find the nearest tree to gather more wood.

Gathering food
When a worker has been selected, right-click on a farm to gather food. When a worker has gathered its maximum carrying capacity of food, the unit will drop the food off at the town centre, then return to the farm to continue farming. If the farm is exhausted, the unit will wait at the town centre for further instructions.

Gathering metal/gold
When a worker has been selected, right-click on a metal deposit to gather metal or gold. When a worker has gathered its maximum carrying capacity of ore, the unit will drop the ore off at the town centre, then return to the deposit to continue mining. If the deposit is depleted, the unit will wait at the town centre for further instructions.

Workers are able to attack any other unit.
Workers are able to build town centres, farms,and lodges.
Workers can gather wood, metal, food, and gold.

In the beginning, workers harvest wood at a 50% harvest rate. For example, 10 units of wood harvested from the tree result in 5 units stockpiled. Workers harvest food at a 100% harvest rate, giving 10 units of food for ten units harvested.

Axemen/Axewomen are able to attack any other unit.
Axemen/Axewomen are able to harvest wood.

Axemen and axewomen are one of the civilizations first offensive units. Stronger and more specialized than workers, they are able to cut wood faster and more efficiently. They are also effective warrior units.


Stationary unit types


Town Centres
Cost: 50 wood, 0 food

Town centres are the first drop-off depots for resources gathered.
Town centres are able to create new workers.

Farms
Cost: 25 wood, 0 food

Farms are used to grow food for your civilization. At this time, farms are non-renewable, and must be rebuilt after exhaustion. Each farm yields 100 food.

Lodges
Cost: 50 wood, 0 food

Lodges are the first buildings available which can create military units. Currently, lodges can create axemen/axewomen.



Map

Moving the map

The arrow keys can be used to move the map. Alternatively, moving the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen will move the map in the appropriate direction.

Minimap

The minimap shows an overview of the entire map. Unit movement can be tracked on the minimap in real time. Clicking on the minimap will centre the map on the tile clicked.

q – quit the game
Esc – quit the game
